The stereotype of the typical Russian

The Russians… In my opinion, mostly there is a negative stereotype of a Russian. Sometimes I come across upon different foreign movies, where a small part of Russia or people are shown like there is only villages and forest in our country, we still live in the Soviet Union, and there are only criminals in Russia. It makes me feel sad and think why they do that.
I was surprised when traveling abroad was asked whether we already have the Internet or mobile phones. Oh come on! Sure, we do have. :)
The image of Russia and the Russians looks like that:
wild, aggressive, lazy and environmentally-unfriendly blue- eyed people are trying to survive in the forest where there is so much snow, bears and criminals. Where do I live???

Our country is kind of a young country. We should remember it. If Russia were a human being s/he would be about my age, 21 years. And young people sometimes behave aggressively, but I think it just seems to us, we are trying just to find our own place under the Sun. It is a transitional age. The World gets used to think about Russia and the Soviet Union as the one part. But we don’t think about Australia that there are only state convicts in there. The time is changing and changes everything! The Australians are one of the most courteous and well-behaved, well-mannered people today! They live peacefully and are open for everyone. Why don’t give us a chance?

Why do we listen to the World’s opinion? It is very important. On the one hand, sure we can be carefree and live as we want. But would it be good? The fragile Peace depends on communication. The Globalization makes us depend on each other. On the other hand, the successful existence is in our friendly COexistence. That’s why it is very important for us to tell everyone, who we are. And we are good: we have interested young people, we have smart experienced grown-ups, we have beautiful women and men, and we are multinational! At last, we do smile!:)
